A learning object is an educational informational object, of which teaches or reinforces an important concept. Through the use of Tagxedo, I have been able to learn how to properly use learning objects within the classroom. By listing a large amount of food group words, students could look up at my tagxedo or anchor chart if they need reminding of what types of foods are in the Canadian Food Guide. Furthermore, this Tagxedo is in the shape of one of the food groups. To future student learning, this chart could be seperated into four individual types of foods to symbolize the food groups. This list could be changed on a weekly basis in order to reinforce other concepts discussed in the curriculum, allowing higher level student, academic growth. Overall, this web 2.0 tool will further allow students of various learning styles to grasp components within the curriculum with ease and comfort.
Reflection:
Learning objects are incredibly important for student success. If students of multiple intelligences did not have visual, tactile, or auditory resources to seek out answers or information from they would have a very difficult time in school. After completing my first learning object, I now understand the importance of including these resources around one's clasroom for optimal student achievement. Learning objects are also great resources for parents to see during parent teacher conferences, to show them that teachers are using various ways to display information in order for their students to be critical thinkers. It is also important for students to have agency over their own learning objects, as they know how they best learn; therefore, would be able to successfully design a learning object to meet their needs. Overall, learning objects are important visuals to help transfer information to students during any time of day, to ensure students are getting the most out of their education.
