Finishing up a great day with SMART!
On October 15, 2011 I attended an official SMART Training professional development course in Niagara on the Lake. Throughout the day I participated in the beginner or Level 1 qualification course in order to enhance my understanding of SMART Technology. Through interacting with professionals I was able to learn many new interactive ways of bringing technology into the classroom. Specifically, I would use a SMART Board in my own classroom in order to help kinesthetic and visual learners to manipulate and have control over their own lessons. When students are able to use a digital screen to manipulate math objects they are truly receiving a better education than they would if they were simply lectured to. One of my favourite experiences was watching how many educators were trading twitter handles. Even though these teachers did not know each other on a personal level they were willing to collaborate and share resources for the better of their students. Overall, this professional development day was a huge success as I not only made new digital friends and connections but I also won my very first SMART Board resource in the closing ceremonies.
